The Environment Agency (EA) has approved a grant to cover the costs of repairs to coastal defences in Topsham. The defences at Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham, were damaged by the storms in February this year and the repair has just been finished. A large section of the coastal defence alongside the River Clyst frontage was severely damaged during the high tides and storm damage in January and February. New regulations have come in to force which will affect almost all contracts entered by consumers purchasing goods and services.

On Sunday, 29 June, Dave Smallshire, British Dragonfly Society Trustee and co-author of Britain’s Dragonflies, will be returning to the Axe Estuary Wetlands to lead a Wildlife Training Day.
The course is suitable for anyone with an interest in dragonflies and damselflies – participants will learn how to find, capture and identify dragonflies, discover evidence of emerging specimens and hear all about their amazing lifestyles.

With 100 stunning coastal walks to choose from, the Great South West Walks 2014 is now open for bookings.
These specially selected circular walks by the South West Coast Path Association, will take place across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset from 20-28 September.

Every district in Devon will have a specialist youth centre hub with professional staff, following a decision by Devon County Council’s Cabinet yesterday (June 11).
The eight hubs will work with the most vulnerable young people, as well as providing three open sessions for all youngsters each week and expertise for community groups which want to set up their own sessions.
There will also be extra funding to assist communities to develop their own local youth offer using council buildings and other assets.
