Staff and volunteers at Knightshayes near Tiverton are currently researching the role the National Trust property played during the First World War.

Their research will form the basis of an exhibition they’re hoping to hold from mid-July to November next year to mark the 100 year anniversary of the War and the team are keen to hear from anyone who might hold any information that might help them with their project.

A local conservation charity is marking Volunteers’ Week by highlighting some of the many ways in which its dedicated volunteers contribute.

The Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust runs Paignton Zoo, Living Coasts in Torquay and Newquay Zoo in Cornwall, as well as nature reserves in Devon.

Bicton College Military Academy Launches National Initiative

Staff and students from Bicton’s Military and Public Services Academy (MaPS) have this week introduced their education programme to dignitaries from across the country.

Two Exeter School pupils are runners up in a national competition organised by the Oxford German Network.

Exeter Airport: D-Day 70 years on

The airport at Exeter had always been intended for use by the military in the event of war, and in 1939 the airport was taken over by the Air Ministry. Three asphalt runways were laid and RAF Station Exeter became officially operational on 6 July 1940.

Killerton awarded £10k For King and Country

The National Trust has been awarded £10,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for a project, For King and Country at Killerton, near Exeter.

Awarded through HLF’s First World War: Then and Bow programme, the project will focus on the creation of a site-specific performance and art installation.

East Budleigh and Bicton Parish residents are being asked to decide how to spend £3,450 available for sports in the area.

East Budleigh with Bicton Parish Council and East Devon District Council are taking their voting stall to the Scarecrow Festival at East Budleigh Village Hall on Saturday 14 June between 11am and 3pm. Go along and cast your vote!
