If you thought Dawlish Air Show was just about the flying display – you were wrong!

Friday 22 August is the Family Fun Day and, if you’ve experienced it before, you’ll know that it’s all great fun and culminates with our brilliant pilots’ party in the evening.

Centred around The Lawn in the heart of Dawlish, attractions include Savage Skills, BMX stunt bike display; falconry, music, Zumba class demonstration, funfair, aircraft simulator, craft activities, stalls, food, drink and lots more!

Road closures for link road work

Another major lift is planned to take place at the South Devon Link Road site this weekend, as the next set of bridge beams are lifted into place.

On Thursday night (21 August) a large crane will begin to lift a series of steel bridge beams, measuring up to 30 metres long, into position at Hamelin Way, Torquay. This operation will take place over three nights with a fourth night, Sunday 24 August, being available as a contingency.

They fully encourage fancy dress. It can be anything from the dinosaurs, Victorian, the eighties, or even the future!

Tickets cost £25 excluding booking fee, however the first 50 people to buy tickets get the tickets for £15! The ball starts at 8pm til late.

Two Short Nights Film Festival

This event prides itself in helping emerging talent in showcase their short films at selected screenings. There is also workshops and the infamous 48 Hour Film Challenge.

Exeter-based gig promoter Dave Meyland today said Exeter could punch above its weight after the successful visit of superstar rapper Snoop Dogg to the city.

The American performer played a sell-out show at Timepiece last week drawing fans from across the UK.

Dave (pictured left) said he had received dozens of messages of appreciation for pulling off the gig of a lifetime.

Sam Sweeney's Fiddle: Made in the Great War

Six years ago Sam Sweeney, fiddle player with Bellowhead, bought a violin in Oxford. It had all the appearance of a new instrument but the label inside gave the date 1915 and the name Richard S Howard.

Research revealed that the violin had been made – but never finished – by a luthier and some-time music hall performer from Leeds called Richard Spencer Howard.
