Appeal for witnesses after assault on train

British Transport Police (BTP) is appealing for information and witnesses following an incident which took place on board a train travelling between Exeter St Davids and Bristol Temple Meads railway stations.

Officers have today released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the assault which took place shortly after 10pm on Tuesday, 22 July 2014.

Investigating officer, PC Simon Courtney, said: “The train manager was conducting ticket checks on board the 21.49hrs Exeter St Davids to Bristol Temple Meads service.

“About ten minutes into the journey, the train manager came across a male passenger with the incorrect ticket. As the train manager explained the situation, the man assaulted him.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man who assaulted the train manager. Today, I am in a position to release a CCTV image of a man I would like to speak to as I believe he will have key information which can assist the investigation.”
