40-strong EDF team to take part in GWR

Almost 40 staff members from EDF Energy’s Gadeon House office in Exeter have rallied together and entered into Exeter’s Great West Run, taking place on Sunday 19 October.

The group hopes to raise £3,000 in aid of EDF Energy’s charity partner Marie Curie, with all the funds going to help Marie Curie Nurses provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and in the charity’s nine hospices. Almost £500 has already been raised as part of an office charity day, where the team held a raffle and a cake sale.

Devon County Council’s Active Life, Active Mind programme, aimed at supporting health and wellbeing, is back for the third consecutive year with events held in libraries throughout October.

The diverse programme of activities includes something for everyone. For those with creative minds, there are drawing workshops and creative writing groups, and for those looking for support with health and wellbeing there are health checks, guided walks and advice and guidance sessions.

Zaltzman, the British-based half of the global hit topical podcast The Bugle, takes his uniquely interactive new show, Satirist for Hire, on the road, giving audiences the chance to have the issues they care about satirised to order by one of Britain’s leading political comedians.

Whether a general grumble or a specific bleat, audience members will be invited to send in their satirico-queries in advance. Zaltzman will butter their political hot potato to order, and then serve it back to them, all as part of the show.
