Early Met Office figures show this is set to be the driest September across the UK since records began in 1910, with exceptionally low rainfall for many parts of the country.

It is also likely to finish in the top five warmest, with UK mean temperatures significantly above the monthly average.

Using figures from 1-28 September, the UK as a whole has received 19.4 mm of rain, which is just 20 % of the normal amount of rainfall we'd expect for the month. Prior to this, the driest September on record was 1959 with 23.8mm.

A worrying new survey has revealed that 12% of three year olds have tooth decay.

The reserach, published by Public Health England (PHE), found that those children affected had an average of 3 decayed teeth due to the disease.

There was a dramatic variation of tooth decay prevalence ranging from 2% to 34% across the country. However the large majority of children (88%) in this age group have no decay at all. Picture of the day

Just wanted to share with you this amazing picture. I was walking across the wooden bridge on the Quay on my way home and saw the swans gathered as usual. The sun was glinting on the water and the scene looked amazing so I quickly took a snap with my phone. The result was better than I expected, and I love the fact that a swan is about to bite another on the neck and he has no idea what's about to happen!
