The Exeter-based organisation has been a regular fixture in top 10 nationwide providers over the course of the past decade.

What is more, across the two areas 87 per cent of those surveyed said they had confidence and trust...

It's comedy time as Broadclyst Theatre Group presents a wild romp of a show called Improbable Fiction by Alan Ayckbourn.

We all need cheering up in these gloomy times so come along to the Broadclyst VIctory Hall, settle down with a glass of wine or beer and enjoy!

Improbable Fiction is about a hapless group of wannabe writers who are considerably better at talking about their books than writing them.

The first half of the show is all about the characters they write about, the plots and the challenges each of them must overcome to get pen to connect with paper...

Chiefs on the Tigers' tail

Not for the first time in their illustrious history, Leicester Tigers played the role of ‘party poopers’ as they came from behind to sink hosts Exeter Chiefs.

As Devon’s finest opened their doors for the first time since the multi-million pound redevelopment of Sandy Park this summer, it was the boot of England international Freddie Burns that ultimately guided his side to success in Devon.

The summer signing from Gloucester has wasted little time in settling into his new surroundings and his 11-point haul, together with tries from Anthony Allen and Ben Youngs, plus a late...

Match report: Exeter City 1 Oxford 1

Exeter City’s search for a first win of the season continues as they were held to a 1-1 draw at St James Park by Oxford United.

The Grecians got off to the best possible start when Graham Cummins won and converted a penalty in the first few minutes, but the U’s hit back through Callum O’Dowda, who put Joe Riley’s cross beyond stopper Christy Pym.

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale made one change to the side which were beaten 2-1 by Mansfield Town at St James Park last time out, as Matt Grimes came into the starting eleven in place...

Scientists will be practising an unlikely conservation technique in a Paignton wood - hitting trees with big sticks!

The Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust, based at Paignton Zoo, is holding a free BioBlitz – a community nature hunt – in Primley Park, Paignton, on Saturday 20th September, and tree-bashing is on the agenda.

The Trust’s UK Conservation Officer and BioBlitz organiser Tracey Hamston explained: “You bash the vegetation and catch what falls out! The idea is to shake the branches to dislodge invertebrates. A good sharp rap catches them out and they fall off the...

Skin Angels, a group of campaigning beauty therapists from Exeter’s Purity Boutique Spa, were out in force to ensure visitors who came to the city to watch the Tour of Britain were fully armed with sun protection.

The team talked to the public about the importance of wearing sun cream all year round and handed out samples as well as special bracelets, that change colour when skin damaging UVA rays are present.

Ellie from Skin Angels said: “It was fantastic to be part of such a big event in Exeter. We are so passionate about ensuring people protect themselves from sun damage...
