Entries open for Michelmores Charity Run

Exeter law firm Michelmores is calling for runners to get involved in its annual charity run, taking place on Thursday 11 June 2015 at 7pm and fundraising in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Now in its 16th year, the Michelmores Charity Run attracts over 1,000 runners, covering a 5km city course starting in the heart of Exeter at the Cathedral Green and finishing at Exeter Castle.

From experienced runners to fun runners in fancy dress, all are welcome. Last year, first place went to Gwylym Gibson, who covered the course in 16 minutes 2 seconds.

Trust wins national e-learning award

The Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust has beaten off competition from Sony Europe, Tesco Bank and Jurys Inn to win a national award for the success of its online learning management system (LMS) for staff.

The Trust and Kallidus, the LMS company it works with, struck gold at the e-Learning Awards in London.

They won the Best Learning Management System Implementation category at an awards ceremony attended by around 550 guests and experts from across the industry.

The Exeter Northcott Theatre has announced that its 2015 Christmas production will be a brand-new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ much-loved classic, A Christmas Carol and will be produced by Exeter Northcott Theatre and Creative Cow. Exeter CAB appeals for volunteers

Local charity, Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau, is appealing for volunteers.

The charity, which is based in Dix’s Field, is recruiting new information guides, gateway assessors and advisers.

Information guides meet clients and visitors upon arrival at the bureau and assist with self-help resources. Gateway assessors help clients to identify issues and help with the next steps. Advisers provide clients with generalist advice in both face-to-face and telephone interviews.

Neil Parish MP, Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Animal Welfare, has hosted the Launch of the UK's first 'Manifesto for Cats' in the House of Commons, on Tuesday 10th February.

East Devon to continue home support services

The Housing Service at East Devon District Council has found a way to maintain many of the support services for elderly and vulnerable tenants, which came under threat following cuts of around half a million pounds in funding from Devon County Council for the coming year alone.

Small businesses across the South West are being advised to prepare themselves for pensions auto-enrolment says ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants). Figures show that there are 513,000 companies across the region that are classed as being a small or medium sized business.

Three quarters of Exeter professionals (75%) are required to work outside of their regular office hours more than they were five years ago, according to a recent research from Regus, the world’s largest provider of flexible workspace. Priced at 50p, this new newspaper will be in addition to the current weekly Express & Echo published on a Thursday.
