The Blues House is a non-profit making monthly evening promoting blues music in Devon. Hosted by musician, Jeremy Way(singer/guitarist for mid Devon blues band, Far From the Delta), the evenings start with a house band (who's members kindly give up their time for free), followed by an open blues jam, where anyone can give it a go. It is based in Crediton, so it's fairly central for the whole of Devon, where most places are no further than an hour's drive, so hoping to reach out to the whole of Devon. This is a well equipped open mic/jam night, with guitars, amps, drum kit, p.a., keyboard. Up and coming Exeter racing driver Richard Mitchell heads for iconic Brands Hatch circuit this weekend for the HSCC Historic Formula Ford 1600 Championship.

Racing newcomer Richard joined the Silverstone based Speedsport team this year with virtually no previous racing experience. Twenty-nine people are a step closer to entering the workplace thanks to a People Fair held by Prospects, the education, employment and skills company, and Westward Pathfinder on 17 September in Torquay.

Stage and screen star Simon Callow is to appear at the Two Moors Festival which starts in just under three weeks’ time.

The Four Weddings and a Funeral star (pictured above) will be the narrator in Prokofiev’s classic Peter and the Wolf being performed at Exeter Cathedral on Friday October 23.

Community groups, businesses and VIPs celebrate community energy

A community energy feast was held near Exeter last night to celebrate the volunteers working tirelessly to establish community-owned renewable energy projects in the region, and promote a new £33,000 fund available to community energy groups in Devon.

These projects are being set up to benefit local communities by generating low carbon, low cost energy and a 20-year income stream to make them more vibrant and sustainable places to live. Webb Ellis cup is coming to Exeter... again!

Rugby's biggest prize, the Webb Ellis cup is coming to Exeter, and people have a chance to have their picture taken with it.

The Webb Ellis Cup will be in the official Rugby World Cup 2015 Exeter Fanzone in Northernhay Gardens on Tuesday (29 September) from 12noon to 1pm and will be welcomed by a schools music mini fest, with music from local schools, The Academy of Music and Sound, and Exeter College.
