Reminder that Crediton High Street is closed

Motorists are being reminded that Crediton High Street will be closed with diversions in place for the next month.

The disruption is due to a £320,000 scheme to improve Crediton's sewer network.

Crediton High Street will be closed to through traffic from the Duke of York public house at the west end of the High Street to North Street at the east end of the High Street. Pedestrian access will be maintained to the shops.

A growth in activity by South West SMEs as the economy has improved has led to deals work more than doubling at one of the region’s leading law firms.

Stephens Scown LLP has seen its corporate practice grow headcount by 25% over the last year to cope with demand for its services as the number of deals it has advised on has shot up from 41 to 102 – an increase of some 148%.

Demand for SW homes increasing

The South West’s housing market has seen a rise in demand following the Government’s recent announcement that stamp duty is set to increase for buy-to-let investors, the latest survey by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has revealed.

The RICS UK Residential Market Survey, December 2015, has shown that demand for new properties in the South West rose at the fastest pace in seven months with Chartered Surveyors citing a rush to beat April’s stamp duty rise as the reason.

The Donkey Sanctuary near Sidmouth is celebrating after it’s visitor destination for educational school trips has been nationally recognised by the Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme (CEVAS).
