The Directors and staff of wealth management company Brewin Dolphin Exeter office, invited Gina Awad, Exeter Dementia Action Lead to deliver a 'Dementia Friends Information' session.

Gina was delighted when the local office of Brewin Dolphin agreed wholeheartedly to join the alliance and explained “As a city we are leading in reducing the stigma surrounding the condition by sharing resources and generally getting out there and talking about it. Dementia is the biggest health and social care challenge of this century and a collaborative response is and will make all the difference”.

She adds: "What's really great is that businesses are embracing our ideas and are really encouraged to support our work in the community. Brewin Dolphin have committed to ensure all their staff become Dementia Friends and support us with a little fundraising during Dementia Awareness week in May.”

Richard Pike - Divisional Director, Head of Charities – South & South West, Brewin Dolphin said: "The staff are extremely keen to raise awareness and join the city initiative by considering how they can make a difference by understanding and taking action. Dementia in its various forms impacts on so many of our lives in both a personal and professional capacity and yet there are still so many myths and misunderstandings about the condition.

"It was really helpful to talk to Gina about the challenges of identifying and supporting people with dementia that we come into contact with through our work.  We are extremely grateful to Gina for the work that she does on behalf of Dementia Friends.”
