Can you solve the roof tile puzzle, make a mosaic with real Roman pieces and sort out your ‘mortaria’; from your ‘samian’? Saturday 23rd July – Saturday 27th August during normal visitor hours What does the Cathedral look like to you? Put your sketching skills to the test and send us your picture of the West Front of the Cathedral. You can use pencils, pens, paints, charcoal or anything you like to create your drawing. Please submit your entry to the Front Desk at the Cathedral. Prizes will be available for categories in the following age ranges: 4 – 7, 7-11, 11-16, 16 – 18. All work will be exhibited once the competition comes to a close. Prizes for each category TBA. FREE.

Follow the clues that will lead you to each one, and find out who each shield belongs to. Concerts in the west September tour is to feature the outstanding violinist Tamsin Waley-Cohen and Emma Parker, Viola player Rosalind Ventris and Cello player Nathaniel Boyd.

The concert will be held at Lower Pulworthy, Highampton, Hatherleigh, on 1 September at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £15 and drinks are available there.

Heritage Volunteer Fair in South Devon

Teignbridge District Council is organising a heritage volunteer fair.

The volunteer fair will take place on 14 July from 6-8pm at Old Forde House, Newton Abbot.

The council is encouraging anyone with an interest in local heritage and wildlife assets to get involved and drop in to learn more about the local groups and societies.

Citizens Advice Exeter raises £800 for justice for all

A team of walkers from leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, raised £846.25 when they took part in the Exeter Legal Walk on the 6th June.

The Exeter Legal Walk celebrates the continued work of the legal profession and advice sector in protecting people’s rights and promoting equal access to justice for all. The Legal Walk is one of over 30 similar events which run across England and Wales raising funds for free local legal advice charities.

Hilary Paynter Age of Enlightenment exhibition opens at Exeter hospital

A striking exhibition of wood engravings by renowned engraver Hilary Paynter is the latest artwork to adorn the corridors at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The ‘Age of Enlightenment’ exhibition, which opened to the public on the 2nd July, explores the subject of age and ageing. The body of work has been commissioned by the Baring Foundation, the Arts Council and Devon Guild of Craftsmen, and can be viewed by patients and visitors on level 2 of the hospital between template B and C.
