Exeter College celebrates best ever A Level results

Exeter College is celebrating its best ever A Level results - with an outstanding 99.8% pass rate.

Students from all four corners of Devon and further afield amassed excellent A level results, with more than half - a staggering 54% - achieving the very highest A*, A, and B grades.

As well as highest number of students achieving straight A* and A grades, the college celebrated 100% pass rates in 33 of its 38 A level subjects.

Exeter teenager joins inspirational sailing trip

Harry Batten, 13, from Exeter recently took part in an inspirational sailing trip with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, along with 28 other young people in recovery from cancer. Harry joined the crew of one of six yachts, to sail around the Solent on the south coast from the 1st of August, on a four-day yachting adventure.

Human remains found in search for missing Exeter woman

Police searching for missing Exeter woman Gergana Prodanova have today [16 August] recovered human remains from an area of Exeter.

At around 4pm on Tuesday 16 August police conducted a search of waste ground off Blackall Road.

As a result of this search, forensic officers recovered human remains from the scene.

A full forensic post mortem will now be undertaken to confirm the identity of the body however Gergana’s family in Bulgaria has been notified.

Blundell’s School continues to deliver excellent A Level results

Blundell’s School continues to be deliver excellent results at A Level with some very strong results achieved by pupils in both the Upper and Lower Sixth. In the Upper Sixth (Year 13) of 97 pupils, 41% of the results gained were at A*/A with 23 pupils gaining 3 A grades or higher and over two thirds of all grades were between A* and B. The A Level pass rate was 99%. The Lower Sixth (Year 12) gained the best AS results ever at Blundell’s: from a cohort of 107 pupils, one third of the pupils gained A grades with 75% of the grades at A-C and a 95% pass rate. Demand for land falls sharply in SW

A significant drop in demand for rural land was reported in H1 2016, and with continuing modest supply increases, expectations have been pushed further into negative territory. Across the country, 49% of contributors now expect prices to fall across all farm types over the coming year.
