Callington and fghan United were the winners in Exeter City’s community football tournament held on Sunday (3 July). Nearly 200 local players took part.

Callington won the Women’s competition, winning every match they played. They beat Tedburn St Mary based Inter M’Ladies 5-1 in the final. In the semi finals Callington defeated the All Blacks from South Devon 2-1 and Inter edged out Buckland, also by 2-1. Enjoy a picnic in the park and a hilarious performance of Canterbury Tales

Exmouth’s Manor Gardens will be the setting for an open air production of Canterbury Tales, performed by The Pantaloons theatre company on Wednesday 10 August.

The production – to be staged in Phear Park - is a funny new adaptation, making Chaucher’s Canterbury Tales accessible to all ages.

Stover signs help keep park smoke and litter free

Stover Country Park near Newton Abbot is taking a lead in encouraging visitors to help keep the park smoke free.

New signs have been placed throughout the park’s picnic areas and bird hide to thank visitors for helping keep Devon smoke free. Stover is the latest addition to a number of smoke free areas in the county, which now include many of its play parks, and all of its children’s centre grounds, hospital sites and the Council’s County Hall headquarters.

Hundreds of people came along to the Beacon Heath Summer Fete and enjoyed an afternoon of fun filled activities in the sunshine.

The fete was held at St James School,The Beacon Community Centre and the Beacon Nursery.

Local churches, councillors, charities, crafts people and the fire brigade were among many local organisations taking part and organisers were delighted with the event.

Search is on to find top dog-friendly businesses

The search is on to find the UK’s most dog-friendly places, as the Kennel Club launches its Be Dog Friendly Awards 2016.

The competition, now in its tenth year, is part of the wider Be Dog Friendly campaign which aims to break down barriers for man’s best friend by encouraging more businesses and public spaces to welcome dogs.
