Plans for a near £1 million flood improvement scheme in East Devon have been approved by Devon County Council’s Cabinet.
Councillors today (Wednesday 14 December) agreed to increase the budget for the scheme which will improve flood protection for properties at Axminster Millbrook.

The Exeter Foundation has donated £5000 to Exeter-based adult hospice charity, Hospiscare, to help fund 60 nurse bags.
The bags, which will hold key pieces of diagnostic equipment, will be used by Hospiscare’s 28 community nurses and bank staff at patient’s homes, nursing homes and at hospices to help diagnose patients more directly.

Job Seeker’s Allowance (JSA) claimants in Devon increased by 13 during November.
This is the first rise in claimants since February - the total claimant count now standing at 2,860, 23% lower than the same time last year.

Josie’s poem expressed how she felt about her experience with the local charity after her Granddad Geoff Fletcher, 80, spent his last few days at the city hospice.
Just six weeks earlier he had been diagnosed with bowel cancer.
Josie wrote the poem as a way of coping with her grief and to express how overwhelmed her whole family were by the support they received at Hospiscare.
