Devon County Council has asked the Government to reconsider its position regarding increased business rates on rooftop solar installations.

The Government is proposing that from next April many local authorities and businesses in the UK will see major tax or business rate increases on rooftop solar installations.

Devon County Council's Cabinet Member responsible for environmental matters, Cllr Roger Croad, says that such a decision would be a backward step for sustainable energy, and that it would deter organisations from installing the technology.

Devon blind veteran to march at Cenotaph

A Second World War veteran from Devon will be marching at the Cenotaph in London this Remembrance Sunday (13/11) with the military charity Blind Veterans UK. Ron Wyman, 90 and from Honiton, feels strongly about Remembrance Sunday because of his experiences in the Armed Forces and is thankful to Blind Veterans UK that he can now attend the national Remembrance Sunday commemoration. Devon crash leaves man critically injured

Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in Torquay which left a man critically injured.

Emergency services were called just before 2.30pm on Friday 4 November 2016 following the collision between a black Vauxall Agila, a grey Citroen Berlingo and a multi-coloured Mercedes skip lorry on Beechfield Avenue, Torquay.
