People in Exeter, and the surrounding area, are being given the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of local people with dementia by becoming Dementia Friends Champions. People can book now to attend a touring induction day that is coming to the city on Tuesday 7 February.

Sara Pascoe is a British writer, stand-up comedian and actress. She has appeared in a number of television programmes - Campus, Live At The Apollo, QI, Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Mock The Week among others - as well as an all-female sketch show and her own Edinburgh show, and runs comedy club The House Of Mirth.
A pupil at Exeter Cathedral School has been awarded a place in the prestigious National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain.
Rufus Hetherington, who is in Year 7 at ECS and a Chorister at Exeter Cathedral, has earned himself a spot in the French Horn section of the elite GB orchestra.
Rufus, who has been a pupil at the School since he was 8 and who studies French Horn at the School, said he was ‘really pleased’ to have made the grade and that he was looking forward to the challenge of working alongside some ‘amazing players’.

People in Exeter lose fewer teeth than the average for the South West according to research from mydentist, which has over a million patients in the region.
Patients at mydentist, North Street, Exeter, have had 7.88 extractions for every 100 patients over the last year compared to 10.67 extractions across the South West as a whole and an average of 11.14 for the UK.

Latest figures from Visit South Devon reveal that 2016 was an exceptional year for tourism with visitors to www.visitsouthdevon.co.uk up more than 7% on 2015, accounting for just shy of 870,000 site visits over the past twelve months.
Combined with day trips and overnight stays, Visit South Devon predicts that tourism in East Devon, Mid Devon, South Hams and Teignbridge could contribute even more than it did in 2015 when tourism in Teignbridge, Mid and East Devon brought in over £610 million to the local economy sustaining 13% of all jobs.
Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of the bodies of a man and a woman at a property in East Devon.
Officers attended an address in Dunkeswell at 11.40pm on Wednesday 4 January 2017 following concerns for the welfare of a man and woman at the property.
On arrival officers found the man and the woman deceased.
Detectives have launched an enquiry into the circumstances surrounding both deaths. Next of kin have been informed.
A scene guard remains at the property while a forensic examination and searches are conducted.
