£100,000 appeal to plug Killerton's leaking roof

Killerton House near Exeter, looked after by the National Trust, has launched a major fundraising campaign to plug the holes in its leaking roof.

£100,000 is needed to help pay for work due to start in late February which will prevent the threat of water damage to the much loved house and collection, which includes a unique Trust fashion collection. The money raised will also go towards carrying out vital work to conserve the roof over the house, exterior walls, windows, chimneys and parapets, as part the Trust’s ongoing commitment to care for Killerton. They place vulnerable children from all over the UK with new adoptive families in Devon, Dorset, Cornwall, Somerset and the Isles of Scilly and have a growing number of older children, sibling groups and children with disabilities waiting to be adopted and are looking for more adopters to come forward quite quickly.

Information sessions where people can find out more about becoming an adopter and about the support on offer are held regularly.

Sales and support staff at south coast based Hendy Group in Exeter have been honoured for their contribution to a record year at the company’s annual sales awards which was hosted by TV presenter Natasha Kaplinsky.

Hendy chief executive Paul Hendy paid tribute to all the award winners in a year which has seen the company grow with the acquisition of the south east based Lifestyle group.

The Post Office will open a brand new branch at WS Retail, 1 Sylvania Drive, Exeter, EX4 5DT on Monday 30 January at 1pm.

The branch will be the first Post Office in this part of Exeter. Post Office services will be offered from a low-screened, open-plan Post Office counter that is integrated into the retail counter, enabling customers to carry out a wide range of Post Office transactions alongside retail purchases.

A private health clinic - which began with a single practitioner - has become the largest of its kind in the south west in just seven years, delivering more than 1,000 hours of patient treatments every month.
