Countryside team celebrate National Volunteer Day

Local people have so far dedicated more than 3,000 hours of volunteering to the East Devon District Council Countryside service in 2016.

With National Volunteer Day on Monday December 5 the Countryside team will be showing their gratitude to their willing volunteers with homemade cakes and extra coffee breaks during volunteering sessions throughout the week.

More than 140 countryside volunteers, from all walks of life, have supported the service this year with a number of practical tasks and assisted in education and events.

The University of Exeter’s a cappella group Semi-Toned is in the final of Gareth Malone’s TV search for the nation’s most talented and entertaining amateur choir.

The all-male group is one of just three choirs to make it through to the final of The Choir: Gareth’s Best in Britain.

The group was selected in a tense semi final which saw the four regional heat winners work with industry experts in a “boot camp” to prepare for a performance in front of a panel of judges.

Appeal after serious collision in Exeter

Police are appealing to the public following a serious collision that has left a man and a woman with serious injuries.

At approximately 4.31pm on Tuesday 29 November, two vehicles, a silver Microcar Dynamic SEI and a Toyota Hilux, were involved in a collision on the A30 junction A3015, Honiton Road, Exeter.

As a result of the incident, a 69-year-old woman and an 83-year-old man were taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital before being transferred to Derriford Hospital.

Deaf students get set for Exeter Santa Run

Staff and students from Exeter Deaf Academy will be among the sea of Santa’s running along Exeter Quay this Sunday.

Post Office strike this weekend

The Post Office is reassuring customers in the Exeter area that despite the Unions’ call for strike action on Saturday 3 December at three Post Office branches, services will not be impacted at other branches in the area. The Post Office said it is soon to say if services will be affected at the three branches where strike action has been called but other Post Offices in the areas will be open for business as usual as they are not involved in the industrial action.

Stagecoach announces new timetable for SW Falcon

Stagecoach South West has announced that, from 3 December 2016, a new timetable will come into effect on the South West Falcon, connecting Devon and Somerset with Bristol Airport and Bristol City Centre.
