The MS Trust’s Survival Skills Weekend will be taking place in Ashclyst Forest in Devon from 23-25 June to raise funds to help people with multiple sclerosis.

The charity is looking for 10 budding Bear Grylls to take part in this outdoor adventure where participants will be sponsored to live in shelters they have built and eat food they have foraged from the forest.  This wilderness survival challenge will be raising funds to help the MS Trust ensure no one has to manage MS alone.

Jon Makin, who work as Lead Trade Manager for Tesco in Cullompton, explains why he will be taking part: “It's very scary when you get diagnosed with something like MS and it can be a real game changer. I've had to make adjustments in my life to help me deal with it as I guess many people do. Without the support from charities like the MS Trust, my MS nurses and my neurologists I think I'd have been a right mess.

“MS is a horrible disease that many have to live with, but I've got the opportunity now to give something back to one of the charities that has helped me from the point of diagnosis. The money we raise will help provide people like me with the support and information that's so needed.”

It is hoped that funds raised through this event will be enough to run the MS Trust’s free MS enquiry line for a month, offering reassurance to people living with MS and answering their questions about this complex condition. The charity provides free information about MS for anyone affected and also trains MS specialist nurses.

If you would like to get involved, you can register now for just £50 (half price booking offer for February) and pledge to raise £350 in sponsorship. The MS Trust will provide lots of support and advice to help you raise your sponsorship and you will be making a real difference for people with MS.
