Plans for a new footbridge in Sidmouth to replace Alma Bridge have been drawn up by Devon County Council.
The County Council will be presenting its designs for a 22-metre span bridge to Sidmouth Town Council on Monday 6 March as it looks to conduct initial consultations with stakeholders, including East Devon District Council, South West Water and Environment Agency. The authority will also be carrying out investigation work early next month, with geotechnical inspections of the east cliffs being conducted at the potential location for the bridge. Exeter School pupil Zachary Marsh has been elected Member of Youth Parliament for Exeter for the next two years. The Lower Sixth Former's election campaign included making presentations at local schools and clubs. As part of his role Zachary will join all UK Youth Parliament members in the House of Commons for two debates on matters concerning young people during his term in office.

Research published by property consultancy JLL shows that Exeter house prices are expected to rise at a faster rate than the UK average over the next five years.
JLL predicts that Exeter will experience an average year on year price rise of 3.9% between 2017 and 2021, compared with 2.5% for the rest of the UK.
Prices are expected to go up by 4% from last year in 2017 and another 4% in 2018, although JLL expects this year on year increase to slightly fall in subsequent years to 3.5% in 2019 and 2020, before rising again to 4% in 2021.
