Three family law specialists from The Family Law Company are celebrating after winning awards in the 2017 Devon and Somerset Law Society (DASLS) Awards. With the marking of International Women’s Day this week, it is particularly apt that all three are women.

Ofsted has praised the “highly personalised care” at a specialist children’s home for Deaf young people at Exeter Deaf Academy.

Exeter Deaf Academy, based on Topsham Road are celebrating the announcement that ‘Progress House’ has been graded ‘Good’ following a recent Ofsted inspection.

SWW supports Moor Otters arts initiative

South West Water has been named as the main supporter of the Moor Otters public arts initiative created by Dartmoor National Park.

The campaign aims to raise £100,000 to support projects to conserve and enhance Dartmoor’s wildlife, landscape and improve accessibility for everyone to the Moor. From 1st June 2017, 100 life-size otter sculptures will be displayed along a trail in accessible public areas around Dartmoor and the neighbouring gateway towns.

‘Logan’ sees Hugh Jackman reprising his role as the ever popular Wolverine, however this time his story takes a more gritty turn.

Selected students spanning all age ranges and from the different dance genres of DanSci Dance Studio had the opportunity to learn from the sensational, multi-award winning James Wilton Dance today.

Police Commissioner pledges extra funding for CCTV and monitoring hubs

Devon and Cornwall’s Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez has pledged an extra £200,000 funding to increase CCTV capacity across the force area and encourage the development of monitoring ‘hubs’. For over 170 years, YMCA Exeter has been supporting disadvantaged communities across Devon, particularly those now who are affected by homelessness.

Exeter Quay footbridge closed for repairs following safety concerns

Exeter City Council has closed a footbridge that straddles a leat off the River Exe at Exeter’s Quayside because of safety concerns.

An inspection found that repairs need to be carried out to the Mallison footbridge. A diversion has been set up for users of the footbridge and the Council has apologised for any inconvenience caused by the closure.

Site clearance ahead of planned junction work

Site clearance work in preparation for a new junction east of Tiverton has started.

One lane of the A361 North Devon Link Road will be closed westbound over a short 600 metre stretch near Gornhay Cross for two weeks, from next Monday (13 March).

Work to clear vegetation from the site area on the south side of the A361 is being carried out now to minimise the impact upon the local environment and ecology.

Work on the junction itself, which will lead to planned developments in the Tiverton Eastern Urban Extension, is likely to start later in the year.
