Exeter church announces services at the Great Hall

A city church is to start hosting some of its Sunday services at the 1450 seater University of Exeter Great Hall.

Rediscover Church in Northernhay Street already hosts two services on a regular Sunday, and it has announced dates throughout the year when the congregations will come together for a number of special celebration events.

The announcement is a big and ambitious venture for the church which connects weekly with over 500 people through its programmes. They also broadcast live online and attract both a local and international audience.

Exeter College has been named as one of the best places to work in the UK, according to The Sunday Times.

The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies is an annual ranking of the best workplaces measuring workforce motivation, happiness and engagement. Exeter College has been ranked as a Top 100 employer in The Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to Work For 2017.

The College is one of only six organisations with more than 1,000 employees and the only further education college in Englandto be ranked in the Top 100.

Pioneering folk trio FAUSTUS tour the UK in April and release a brand new EP ‘Slaves’, hot on the heels of their acclaimed album ‘Death & Other Animals’, produced by Rupert Christie (Bellowhead), Faustus and Westpark Music.

Death and Other Animals has just received the German Critics Award (Schallplatenkritik Bestenliste) in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter/World Music Category.

Exeter Junior School launches Project 500 for World Book Day

In honour of World Book Day, Exeter Junior School's librarians launched 'Project 500' an exciting reading initiative that promotes Science reading for pleasure.

The librarians introduced a whole selection of newly purchased Science books that have been given pride of place in our library this week and are available to borrow straight away.

Pupil librarian Alex Leaver (U1B) explained: "Science books tell us a great deal about the world around us and they can be very interesting - and fun - to read."

Exeter primary school recognised as Centre of Assessment Excellence

Broadclyst Community Primary School (BCPS) has been recognised as a Centre of Assessment Excellence during GL Assessment’s 5th National Assessment Conference in London on 3 March.

South West property developers Burrington Estates, who are building a new development of 25 high specification new two, three, four and five-bedroom homes in Clyst St George invited school children from Lady Seawards Primary School for an educational visit to their new development, Seaward Park, leading up to the highly anticipated show home opening this Saturday 4th March 10am-4pm.

World expert in brain function adds to Exeter’s research excellence

A world expert in measuring brain function will give his first lecture at the University of Exeter.

Keith Wesnes was recently appointed Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Exeter Medical School, bringing over 40 years’ experience of measuring changes to major aspects of cognitive function in both clinical practice and research.
