EDDC takes innovative step towards setting up local housing company

East Devon District Council is looking at setting up its own local housing company to play a more significant role in the local housing market and increase housing supply in the area to meet the demand for good quality housing.

The company, which would be wholly owned by the council, could play a key role in delivering new homes to the district’s growing population. It would be financed by the council and any profits would come back to the council.

Riverside Leisure Centre to reopen this month

Work has begun to reopen Exeter’s Riverside Leisure Centre following last month’s devastating fire.

Most people seem to agree that Exmouth’s Orcombe Point, the start of the Word Heritage Coast, could do with a café. It used to have one and people want something there again where they can get a drink and a bite to eat.

A joint project run between Sidmouth Town Council and East Devon District Council will soon see Sidmouth getting a new sports facility, as work is due to start in Spring 2017 on a new outdoor multi-use games area for the town.

Sidmouth residents originally had their say on how to spend £250,000 on outdoor sports in the town a few years ago – seven projects were successful – most of which have happened now.
