A trail suitable for pre-school aged children

Follow the colours of the rainbow through Seaton Wetlands and take part in exciting activities at each point along the trail.

Hunt for natural colours and shapes, stop and listen to the sounds of the Nature Reserve, tip-toe over bridges trying not to disturb the Troll beneath.

Engage preschool aged children with their wild surroundings.

Diners at Rusty Pig in Ottery St Mary will have the opportunity to dine al fresco, with the introduction of an outdoor dining area.

The balcony at the back of the restaurant, which is also the location where Rusty Pig’s charcuterie range is air dried, overlooks the rooftops of Ottery across to St Mary’s Church.

Owner, Robin Rea said: “We are very much into natural ingredients – and what could be more natural than sitting outside to dine?

The threat of wild fires may seem like a long way off after a typically wet Bank Holiday weekend but a leading wildlife charity is now joining forces with an emergency fire service to warn of the rising risks that fire is posing to some of the region’s most treasured landscapes. Despite rain over the Bank Holiday the South West still finds itself in the middle of a prolonged dry spell which has left parts of the countryside vulnerable to wild fires.

Police appeal after serious assault in Exeter

A woman in her 30s was assaulted by a man in an alleyway next to KFC on South Street sometime during the day time on Tuesday 14 February 2017.

The woman was hit in the face which resulted in serious facial injuries which included loosened teeth and a broken jaw, requiring hospital treatment.

A 37 year old man from Exeter has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is on police bail while further enquiries are carried out.

Charity garden opening

The spring flowers in Moretonhampstead gardens Sutton Mead and Mardon must have loved the driest winter for decades.

The colours of the apple blossom, wisteria, rhododendrons and azaleas have never looked better. Both of these four acre gardens will be open in aid of The National Garden Scheme on Friday, Saturday and Sunday 19, 20, 21 May - 2pm-6pm.

There will be a sale of plants raised in the gardens and delicious homemade teas. Parking is available at both gardens and for anyone wishing to combine their visit with a walk on the moor, dogs on leads are welcome.
