Kay Transport helps Europe’s largest pallet network hit new 5.4 million highs

Local transport company Kay Transport helped to move a record breaking 5.4 million pallets around the Palletways UK network in the biggest year for Europe’s largest and fastest-growing palletised express freight network since its launch in 1994. The 2016/17 figure beat last year’s previous record of 5.1 million by some 300,000 pallets with spikes in demand for members, like Kay Transport, at Christmas 2016 and this Easter. An Exmouth man who overcame autism and dyslexia to pass three maths exams which helped turn his life around, has been recognised by Learn Devon, Devon County Council’s Adult Education Service.

A defunct bodyshop on the Finnimore Estate in Ottery St Mary has been transformed into state of the art offices after a major refurbishment programme.

Local entrepreneur Stuart Phillips and his team have given the old Alansway building a new lease of life, and it is now an impressive head office for four businesses; Coverstructures Commercial, RMC Build, Tickety-Boo Retail and Coverstructures Property.

Home Office awards £357,000 for Devon project tackling violence against women and girls

A new £17m Government initiative tackling violence against women and girls will see Devon County Council receive £357,000.

The fund will go towards a project aimed at ensuring people in positions of care are helped to identify early signs of domestic violence and give them the knowledge of how to intervene.

As well as this, the project also aims to identify and work with perpetrators of domestic violence who may have difficulties with substance misuse and mental health.

New research, released today, has revealed that the majority of the nation’s asthma sufferers are incorrectly disposing of their inhalers.

While most local authorities can recycle certain plastics, some inhalers contain plastics and glasses that are not readily recycled through existing kerbside arrangements.

Over half of the surveyed UK adults are simply disposing of their inhalers in the general waste and a third are using their kerbside recycling service – wrongly thinking they will be recycled.
