Experts at the University of Exeter are celebrating a new collaboration with the Ellen MacArthur Foundation as they join its network as a Pioneer University.

The Foundation, which was established in 2010, with the aim of accelerating the transition to a circular economy, was founded by the record-breaking around the world yachtswoman, Ellen MacArthur. The charity has emerged as a global thought leader, establishing the circular economy on the agenda of decision makers across business, government and academia.

Period education bus visits schools in Exeter

Five schools in the South West last week hosted an award-winning educational bus from betty for schools, designed to teach young women about periods in a more open and engaging way.

Pupils at North Petherwin Primary School, The Maynard School and St James’ School Exeter experienced the interactive activities on board the ‘betty bus’ as part of its tour of the UK.

Andrew all set for Thorverton's big Christmas switch-on

There will be another spectacular Christmas lights show in the village of Thorverton this year.

Andrew Cleave is getting ready for the big switch-on at his Dinneford Street home on Saturday (December 2).

The University of Exeter has appointed Craig Nowell as Director of Campus Infrastructure and Operational Support Services. He will join the University in March 2018.

An East Devon beauty-spot has become the venue for a new ‘mindfulness trail’, promising visitors the chance to get away from some of the worst stresses and strains of modern life. The trail has been established at Devon Wildlife Trust’s Bystock Pools nature reserve, in East Devon, and is the brainchild of local woman Clare Carter. The 46 year old from Exmouth created the mindfulness trail because she wanted to help other people to “slow down and switch off” from the demands of 21st century living. Police appeal after serious assault in Exeter pub

Officers are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Exeter on Saturday 25 November 2017.

The incident happened on the Western Way Inner Bypass at around 3.20am by The Kingfisher pub.

A male offender, known to the two victims, allegedly assaulted them with a bladed article causing injury to the arm and the shoulder. The victims received minor injuries.

A 20-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Thieves steal Devon woman's home

Police are urgently seeking information following the theft of a home in Willand, near Cullompton.

The incident happened between 6pm on Wednesday 22 November and 6am on Thursday 23 November 2017 at The Yard on Willand Road, Cullompton.

Thieves entered a yard and loaded the 40ft static caravan on to a flat trailer and removed it from the yard.

The victim, a local woman, was not present at the time of the offence and is now without a home. Pictures of the park home are attached. The serial number is SA11.049221E.

Premiership Rugby champion, Jack Yeandle, returns to his QE roots

On Monday 27th November, Premiership Rugby star and Ex QE Student, Jack Yeandle came back to Queen Elizabeth’s School in Crediton to deliver a Rugby Masterclass.

As part of QE’s afterschool Rugby Club, Jack led the session with QE’s Rugby stars of the future. Jack also reminisced about the start of his Rugby playing career representing QE.
