Stepney strengthens south design capabilities with Ben Greasley appointment
COMPLETE construction partner Stepnell has appointed Ben Greasley as regional design lead for the South, strengthening its design capabilities across Bristol, Southampton and Exeter while supporting projects nationally.
Based primarily at Stepnell's Bristol office, Ben brings 25 years of experience in the construction industry, following 18 months as a senior design manager at Wates. Ben previously spent more than five years at contractor BECT in South Wales, progressing from design management into senior management, having started his career providing consultancy to architectural practices.
Ben brings a wealth of specialist design experience spanning healthcare estates, residential schemes, university campuses, museums and five-star hotels. Ben said: “In my role I am aiming to provide design managers with the support and confidence to solve problems and deliver designs that are robust and commercially viable, collaborating with our team, clients and sub-contractors to ensure the best idea comes to fruition.
“I was attracted to Stepnell for its people-first approach and ambitious growth plans, which include expanding the design team to meet this increasing demand for our services. Helping inexperienced junior design managers and document controllers develop into confident professionals is the part of the job I enjoy most and I am excited by this opportunity at Stepnell to take the lead on the development of a talented design team.”
Ben will be taking ownership of Stepnell’s design procedures, making sure they are practical and relevant, placing emphasis on robust design and information that is compliant with evolving legislation, such as the The Building Safety Act.
He will also focus on building relationships with clients and design consultants to support repeat business, contributing to winning tenders and pre-construction contracts in competitive markets for key sectors including residential, education, healthcare, industrial and commercial.
Rob Speirs, director at Stepnell, said: “Ben brings considerable design experience and a proven talent for developing design managers, which will be pivotal to achieving our five-year regional growth plan to broaden our footprint across the South West and outline plans to move into the South East.
“Ben will also play a key role in providing valuable input on the design of projects wider nationally, as we strive to enhance our capabilities to design and deliver high quality and safe projects for our expanding client base.”
