The Taunton office of investment management firm Brooks Macdonald is once again proud to lend its support to Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival which takes place on 19 to 23 September 2018.

The festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, brings together bestselling and award-winning authors to share their stories with the public, including John McCarthy, who captured the imagination of the entire country when he was abducted by Islamic Jihad in Beirut in 1986 and spent 1943 days in captivity.

Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on East Devon’s Jurassic Coast, last year’s festival drew over 5,000 visitors. Dame Hilary Mantel DBE, the Double Man Booker Prize winner, is the festival’s Honorary President. In a unique masterclass, she will look at the writing process in a way that is open and accessible and will share the tips and techniques she would have liked to have had at her fingertips when she first began to write.

Nicholas Skelhorn, Senior Investment Director and Head of Brooks Macdonald’s Taunton office, said: “This is our second year as a sponsor of Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival which has a strong following in the local region and beyond. This year’s event will once again have an impressive line-up of well-known authors and speakers.

We are proud to support the arts and it is great to be able to support initiatives in our local market. Sponsoring Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival 2018 also provides us with a wonderful platform to raise awareness of our business in Devon and the South West.”

Since opening its office in Taunton in 2011, the team at Brooks Macdonald has provided investment management services to professional advisers, private clients, trusts and charities throughout the South West region (including Bristol, Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset). It has evolved into a thriving business and now employs 10 members of staff, headed by Nicholas Skelhorn, who joined the firm in 2011.
