Exeter Chiefs chairman says new American owners will bring ‘razzmatazz’ to rugby union

Exeter Chiefs chairman Tony Rowe believes that the club’s impending takeover by an American consortium could transform the Gallagher Premiership.

The billionaire owners of English Premier League club Bournemouth have agreed a deal for the club, subject to the membership’s approval at an extraordinary general meeting on May 7.

If the deal is ratified, Exeter Chiefs will become the latest Premiership team alongside Newcastle and Bath to secure major new investment.

Last Saturday the final round of Somerset Junior Golf League matches was held at Enmore Golf Club. Played on the hottest day of the summer the various matches were curtailed for safety reasons to nine holes. However the weather didn’t prevent some of the Yeovil team members from playing sizzling golf and recording winning scores.

Ottery St Mary Table Tennis Club B Team has been promoted to the First Division of the Exeter & District Table Tennis league.

League Chairman Bob Carlyon presented the trophy to the team, Chris Jones (Captain), Guillaume Gaston and Jeremy Broad at club venue, The Institute in Yonder Street.

Jonny Maxted says it was the ambition shown by manager Matt Taylor that helped convince him to sign for Exeter City.

Exeter Chiefs have bolstered their ranks ahead of the new season by recruiting former Harlequins forward Stan South.
