Michael Taylor ready to race at Paratriathlon World Championships

Michael Taylor from Barnstaple and who studies and trains in Bristol, is set to pull on the British trisuit and compete at the World Triathlon Para Championships in Abu Dhabi on Friday 5 November.

Taylor, who races in the PTS4 classification, will take on the world’s best on Friday at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. The event is based around the Yas Marina, with the route taking athletes around the marina circuit.

An Exeter skittles team has claimed the first big win of the season in the Serious About Events winter skittles series.

The Saints team who play out of St Thomas Social Club, had the shortest journey to the tournament held in Torquay. A pitch has been unveiled at the national football centre, in memory of former FA colleague and friend Jon Gittens. A role model and pioneer in coach education, as a Black coach developer Gittens was a leading voice in the conversation on equality, diversity and inclusion during his time with English football's governing body.

Exeter Racecourse stages the richest raceday in Devon next Tuesday ( November 2nd ), which is Haldon Gold Cup Day.

Boxing is thought to have been around in Britain since 1681, with regular boxing matches being held in London’s Royal Theatre in 1698. Back in those days, boxing was considered to be a ”gentleman’s sport”. The monarchy of the time, King George was such a big fan of his fellow nobleman that he even set up a boxing ring in Hyde Park in 1723. Boxing went from strength to strength over the coming decades, with Britain producing a number of lighter weight titles in the early 1900s through fighters such as Bill Ladbury, Teddy Baldock and George Stanley.
