Nationwide and Dementia UK’s free face-to-face clinics are returning to Nationwide’s Torquay, Plymouth and Exmouth branches this February, offering specialist support in a safe, comfortable and private space for people to discuss any aspect of dementia.

Hosted by Dementia UK’s Admiral Nurses, the clinics are open to anyone impacted by dementia, offering life-changing support to families and individuals in the area. Appointments can be booked via Dementia UK’s website here .

Exeter Golf and Country Club has won ‘Most Welcoming Golf Club’ at the prestigious England Golf Awards 2019.

The third, annual England Golf Awards took place on Thursday 21st March at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. The England Golf Awards, sponsored by Adidas Golf, recognises individuals, clubs and companies who have made outstanding contributions to golf across the country.

STC Expeditions, a local provider of ethical school expeditions, has joined a national movement to help promote the concept of ethical careers to schools across the south west and beyond.

Freemasons give £45,000 to victims of southern African cyclone

Thousands of people across Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe whose lives have been devastated by Cyclone Idai will be given access to clean water, as well as tarpaulins, plastic sheets and other emergency supplies, thanks to a grant from the Masonic Charitable Foundation, the freemasons' charity.

The money is being donated to Plan International UK which is working to help survivors, including young women and children, who are at particular risk.

Nearly two thirds (63%) of teachers would support a ban on motor vehicles outside the school gates during school drop off and pick up times, new figures reveal, as 29 schools in Devon start the annual Big Pedal challenge to walk, scoot or cycle their journeys.

A YouGov poll, carried out for Sustrans, the walking and cycling charity, surveyed 840 teaching professionals across the UK about their attitudes towards air pollution and the actions they think should be taken to improve air quality outside the school gates.

Devon county council is to open up its funding opportunities to benefit a wider range of local groups and community projects.

It’s launching three new funds worth nearly £460,000 to support local voluntary and community organisations, groups and projects that help to make communities stronger, and that improve people’s wellbeing.

Councils call for High Streets Fund for new towns

Council leaders have jointly called on government to extend funding to create and improve town centres in new towns.

Following six years of major restoration work, the National Trust’s ambitious project to save Castle Drogo, the last castle built in England, is nearing completion. Building work will still be visible, with some external work to be carried out during 2019, however, for the first time in its life the building will be watertight.
