Emergency services attend A381 crash

Firefighters, ambulance personnel and the police were called to a an accident involving one vehicle earlier yesterday ( Sunday 27th April).

Two fire appliances from Newton Abbot and the Heavy Rescue Vehicle from Middlemoor were sent to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the A381 near to Ware Barton near to Newton Abbot at 2.25pm.

Reports stated that the vehicle had left the highway and travelled down an embankment.

There’s no better way to say it than with flowers. Which is exactly why NAFAS (The National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies) is using beautiful little bunches to spread some love around the UK on National Flower Arranging Day (Friday 2nd May 2014)

In celebration of their Emerald Anniversary, the charity plans to distribute over 60,000 bouquets across the UK embracing ‘The Lonely Bouquet’ concept on a scale never seen before.

The owners of Rock Pool Cafe, which was severely damged during a blaze on Saturday 26th April, have been inundated with messages of support and offers of help and donations on it's Facebook page.

One user wrote:

"I saw the devastation this morning and am so sad. You had made such a lovely cafe there, you will be very much missed."

Firefighters attend two Dawlish fires in 24 hours

Dawlish has been the victim of two fires this week, with firefighters being called to both a car and cafe hut fire on Saturday 26th April.

At 6.27pm last night crews attended an incident on Exeter Road after recieving several calls of a car on fire.

A Dawlish appliance was mobilised. The engine compartment was severely damaged by the fire. The crew used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

Deliberate cafe blaze on Dawlish beach

Firefighters were called to a cafe hut on Coryton Cove Beach, Dawlish, today (Saturday 26th April) due to a fire that had been started deliberately.

Crews were alerted to the incident after reports of something on fire next to the train station. One appliance from Dawlish was initially mobilsed to the incident, however a further appliance from Teignmouth was later called to the scene.

On their arrival at 1.41pm crews confirmed the fire to involve a single storey cafe, which was well alight, crews got to work with four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet.

Police are urging householders to be on their guard following further reported incidents of a phone fraud where unsuspecting victims are duped by people posing as police. Reports of this scam have now been recorded in the South Hams area with four incidents recorded in Paignton yesterday, Thursday, 24 April, with two victims alone having parted with more than £12,000 each. Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Hogg has backed a charity’s attempts to steer young people away from a life of re-offending. Grow 4 Good, based in the grounds of Dartmoor Zoo, Sparkwell, aims to use horticultural work to reduce social isolation in young people which can lead them into lives of crime. Repairs to start on Topsham flood defences

Work will start next week on repairs to a flood defence wall damaged by the storms at the start of the year.

Exeter City Council will fund the repairs to the wall at Bowling Green Marsh, Topsham, using money from the government's funds.
