Pawesome day out with pen farthing

Looking for the perfect way to round off the summer holidays? Head to Pawesome Day Out, a lively, family-friendly charity event on Sunday 31st August from 12pm at St Martin’s Football Club, Exminster—where fun, food, and four-legged friends take centre stage!

Organised by Claudia Pinn of Claudia’s Canines and the UK–Sri Lanka-based charity Lucas Helps Dogs, this event aims to raise vital funds for street animals in Sri Lanka. Proceeds will directly support spay/neuter clinics, emergency treatments, and life-saving vaccinations for dogs and cats in desperate need.

An Evening To Remember: Fine Food And Music At Ramm

Lovers of classical music are in for another treat at Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum on Wednesday 15 May when renowned pianist Martin Cousin will play works by Beethoven, Brahms and Rachmaninov.

Steampunk music event is not for the fainthearted

A revolution is brewing on the Exeter music scene which is set to erupt later this month with the city’s first ever Steampunk Extravaganza. Steampunk encompasses music, art, fiction and fashion. It is the Victorian conservatism of tweed and lace corrupted by gothic and punk influences.

The music is an equally eclectic blend, according to Miss Pinksi, singer with the Mysterious Freakshow, one of the many acts appearing at the event at the Phoenix Centre on 17 May. Exeter to host Ignite - a six-day celebration of live performance

Exeter will host a six-day celebration of new live performance work from the South West and beyond. Over 50 performances are to take place across the city at venues including Exeter Phoenix, The Bike Shed Theatre and The Cygnet Theatre as well as pub venues such as The Hourglass, The Globe and The Rusty Bike.

One of Exeter Phoenix’s highlights includes an inventive and quirky play, The Last Post , in which 17 audience members watch a nostalgic love story about the wonderful art of letter writing, in the back of a mobile sorting office in the Phoenix carpark.

Local crime writer Simon Hall to visit Exeter Central Library

Exeter Central Library will welcome local author and BBC reporter Simon Hall next week.

Simon has written several novels in which a Plymouth-based television reporter and detective work together to solve a series of extraordinary crimes.

He will be at the library on Tuesday 7 May at 7pm to discuss his new book ‘Shadows of Justice’ in which a television reporter is drawn into a case and forced to fight a desperate battle to stop ever more victims falling into the shadows of justice – himself and his friends amongst them.
