Local company Chandni Chowk are giving the arts a boost this summer in their support of a new Anglo/Indian dance production show at Exeter Phoenix 15 August, 2013.

Antara combines the talents of international artist Ajeesh K Balakrishnan, fresh from the Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts in Bangalore, with Exeter-based dancer Kay Crook.

Antara is a truly inter-continental collaboration that interweaves dance and narrative poetry into a powerful love story.

Chandni Chowk, which specialises in textiles, hand-made in India and Bangladesh, are a Fairtrade company making them natural partners for the spiritual, Vedic themes that have inspired the Antara production.

JoJo Spinks, Antara writer/producer says “Chandni Chowk have been amazing. Their real and genuine interest was to help the arts in Exeter. We are thrilled to say that they will be hosting Ajeesh K Balakrishnan as Artist in Residence at their Custom House outlet on Exeter's Historic Quay this summer.”

Ajeesh will be available answer any questions and to discuss the project with the public from the Quayside facing rooms on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, 2-4pm, 11-25 July.

The full Antara performance is showing at Exeter Phoenix 15th August 2013, 8.00pm £8 (£6) exeterphoenix.org.uk / 01392 667080 / Exeter Phoenix, Bradninch Place, Gandy Street, Exeter, EX4 3LS
