Westbank’s warm welcome for the community this winter

Westbank Community Health and Care has opened the doors of its warm, welcoming winter space for the communities of Exminster and Starcross, and is trialling a new shuttle service two days a week to help local people get there.

National charity, Deafblind UK, is on a mission to make things easier for people who have sight and hearing loss.

Director of Operations, Simon Moore said: “Combined sight and hearing loss affects around 400,000 people in the UK, but many people don’t realise that they’re suffering and just struggle on.”

New family walking trail MonsterHero Safari comes to Exeter

A new interactive family story-trail around Exeter will launch on Saturday 4th July. The MonsterHero Safari Trail works on smartphones, challenging families to find hidden ‘MonsterHeroes’ around the city which appear on the phones when you reach their hiding place.

Devon Air Ambulance launches its first ever Virtual Bike Show fundraiser

Following the cancellation of Devon Air Ambulance’s (DAA) annual Motorcycle Ride Out, which sees in the region of 1000 bikers rally together every July to support their Air Ambulance, DAA took the opportunity to launch its first ever Virtual Bike Show fundraiser, supported by Bridge Motorcycles.

Builders merchant continues Devon Air Ambulance support

After raising £3,000 for Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) over the past 12 months, RGB Building Supplies is delighted to continue its support for the charity for a further year.

The money was raised through charity breakfast mornings held in RGB’s branches, the builders merchant’s annual golf day, and staff members taking on individual challenges. This included employee Richard Betts who, although being a staunch Tottenham Hotspur fan, agreed to wear an Arsenal football shirt if £100 was raised in a day - £221.90 was donated.

FORCE Cancer Charity shop reopens

The FORCE Cancer Charity shop in Heavitree has reopened for the first time in nearly three months.

The shop in Fore Street closed on March 23 due to the Coronavirus pandemic but the team has been working hard to get the building safe for staff and visitors.

And it paid off with a steady stream of customers throughout the first day.

Timely donation for Citizens Advice Exeter

Teamwork was the keyword for fundraising by The Family Law Company which has just presented a donation of £1,000 to charity of the year, Citizen’s Advice Exeter.

It took teamwork to organise the fundraising events with the main activities, including a quiz held at Exeter’s Historic Guildhall in late 2019. This was well supported by teams from the local business community, raising £650. Further donations were received from teams taking part in a table tennis and pizza night held at the company’s Balliol offices.

128 groups benefit from housebuilder cash

The first £128,000 of a £1million charity giveaway has been distributed to groups supporting young people across Britain.

The funding – from the Persimmon Homes Building Futures scheme – was awarded to 128 different organisations, with applications received from Caithness to Cornwall.
