Exeter City Community Trust, the charitable arm of Exeter City Football Club, is stepping into a new sport as it joins a major national initiative to grow women’s rugby in the city ahead of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025.

Devon’s Tesco stores are holding a special summer food collection to support the Trussell Trust and FareShare charities as they respond to an increased demand for food in the wake of the pandemic.

From August 20 to 22 customers can donate essential items of long-life food to the good causes. Tesco will top up all customer donations with an additional 20% donation in cash to the two charities.

Trainee guide dogs go back to school in Exeter

After a three-month break due to the Covid-19 outbreak, trainee guide dogs have been able to re-start their training in the south west, getting them ready to become life-changing guides.

In March, sight loss charity Guide Dogs closed its local training teams in line with Government advice, which meant around 55 trainee guide dogs across the region had to take a break.

The dogs were boarded full-time with local volunteers and all training with the local community team, based in Marsh Barton, was stopped.

Hendy Group has joined forces with fintech charity Pennies and its micro-donation movement to support Hendy Foundation.

Hendy customers in Devon can now top up their card purchases by an optional 50p to make a donation to Hendy Foundation which supports good causes in the region.

Make a Will Fortnight with FORCE

FORCE Cancer Charity has again teamed up with local law firms to offer a will writing service for two weeks in September.

Make a Will Fortnight runs from September 7-21 when solicitors based in offices across Exeter, East, Mid and South Devon will waive their fees to write a simple will in return for a donation to FORCE.

Suggested donations are £150 for a single will and £200 for a mirrored will.

COVID 19 has had a devastating impact on charities revenues with mass event cancellations and charity shop closures. Exeter Chiefs Foundation donates record amounts during lockdown

The Exeter Chiefs Foundation has distributed funds totalling more than £200,000 since lockdown began.
