Exeter charity launches free "Joy Rides" to help people get cycling again

Ride On is launching a new, free cycling programme aimed at beginners, people returning to cycling after a break, or anyone looking for a sociable ride to help them get back outside this summer.

Called Joy Rides, the sessions launch on Saturday 18 July and run weekly through to September, alternating between Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings to fit around work, family, and shift patterns. Each ride follows one of three easy, mostly traffic-free routes around Exeter Quay, the Exe estuary, and Topsham, led by trained ride leaders and open to all abilities.

Freemasons are donating 20,000 Easter eggs to thousands of children, care homes, hospitals and food banks across England, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Freemasons have been rolling up their sleeves and distributing Easter eggs across the country once again this year. The donations are helping children and families in most UK cities. Hospiscare receives £2,000 contribution to SOS emergency appeal from local housebuilder

Devon based charity Hospiscare is looking to raise £1 million in an emergency appeal. The charity is now nearing its goal with support from the local community and organisations such as Redrow South West.

Hospiscare supports 2,500 people with life-limiting illnesses each year and their reach covers Exeter, Mid and East Devon. This year will be their 40th anniversary, however, as a charity they need to raise around £8 million a year to continue to provide care.

Twilight Walk, the popular pink sponsored walk in aid of local charity Hospiscare, is due to return to Exmouth after two years.

The event will take over the seafront town on Saturday 9 July to raise much-needed funds for the local hospice for Exeter, Mid and East Devon.

Receiving just 18% of its funding from the NHS, Hospiscare relies upon events such as Twilight Walk to fund its specialist end-of-life care. This July, supporters can shine a light for over 2,500 patients and their families who are cared for by the local hospice by taking part in the popular event....

Over 1,000 supporters stepped up for their local hospice charity by taking part in its iconic fundraising event last month.
