The cutting edge 3D printing laboratory at Plymouth Science Park, together with its striking architecture, were key reasons for one of the city’s architectural technicians to base his business there.
Ben Wheeler has built up an outstanding reputation with more than 10 years in the industry which has included work on large housing sites, commercial schemes, healthcare and education.
He set up his own practice, BW Architecture, around 18 months ago and is using his razor-sharp focus on the technical aspects of a project. He had previously worked for both RIBA accredited and CIAT registered practices.
As an architectural technician, he aims to examine detailed aspects of construction, whilst also ensuring that the finished design is aesthetically pleasing.
‘I produce robust and long-term solutions for any complex details which may arise and it’s my job to iron these out during the design stage,’ explains Ben.
He set up his practice, BW Architectural Services, last year and has already built up a strong client base – largely thanks to his friendly, professional approach in providing advice and drawings for all architectural services.
His move onto Plymouth Science Park came about due to the exceptional facilities on offer at the Derriford based site.
‘The 3D printing facilities at PSP are amazing,’ he says. ‘The suite there means we can take our design drawings and produce actual scaled models which a client can examine closely.’
‘They can then turn them round and see it from a variety of different angles which allow them to gain a very good idea as to what the finished structure will look like. In short, they can hold their dreams in their hands.’
‘The architecture of the buildings first attracted me to PSP, more so than anywhere else in Plymouth. It’s a friendly place to be with a good vibe and strong community. The offices are a perfect size and there are good on-site parking facilities.’
BW Architectural Services is already building a strong reputation for providing cost effective, efficient and high-quality work among a number of Plymouth based businesses, including those in the residential, commercial and local restaurant sector.
