A Devon hotel is celebrating having received national recognition for the quality of its ‘dog friendly’ accommodation.

Elizabeth and Steve Morey own the award-winning Blagdon Manor restaurant and hotel near Ashwater and have been welcoming dog owners from across the country for 15 years.

The hotel has been awarded a ‘certificate of excellence’ for its positive reviews on the world’s largest travel site, Trip Advisor and also named in the Independent and London Evening Standard as one of the ‘Top ten dog friendly hotels in the UK’.

To further enhance their credentials as the place to stay in Devon for dog owners, the hotel has also now been announced as a winner of the Good Hotel Guide Editor’s Choice 2016 awards for Dog-Friendly Hotels.

Having three dogs themselves Elizabeth and Steve know only too well how tricky it can be fitting holidays around their beloved pets.

Elizabeth said: “Cassia, Mace and Saffron are our resident chocolate Labradors. They are part of our family and we love doing a job that allows them to be involved. Nine million people in the country own a dog and not everyone wants to put them into kennels during their holiday, so we decided to put facilities in place for both guests and their beloved dogs!”

The couple said they are delighted with the recognition they have received for being dog friendly.

Elizabeth added: “We’re thrilled to be placed in the top 10 dog friendly hotels in the UK; we do everything possible to make sure our customers and their pets have a great stay and we’re delighted to receive such a tremendous response!”
