On Saturday 30 July, two rooms of the city centre's Exeter Phoenix will be taken over by LEGOⓇ fans and traders for the West Country Brick Show.

Show organisers, 'West Country Bricks', are a LEGO user group of adult fans from the South West who enjoy collecting, building, and customising LEGO, as well as sharing their passion for the hobby. They are also members of the Brickish Association, the largest LEGO User Group in the UK.

West Country Bricks will be joined by dozens of exhibitors at the show displaying colourful constructions and sharing LEGO building expertise to inspire creativity, play and imagination among visitors.

Show visitors should head to the Exeter Phoenix Auditorium from 10.30am to discover stands displaying LEGO robotics, model replicas from history and science fiction, and giant Star Wars mosaics. There is also a rare opportunity to see a 1960's town plan collection up close, and ask questions to the friendly team from Blocks magazine about building, customising and collecting LEGO bricks.

Exeter Cathedral, in conjunction with Bright Bricks Ltd will also be at the show exhibiting a section of their scale model of Exeter's iconic landmark and talking to show visitors about their fundraising project.

Exeter is one of just three Cathedrals in the country to have its own LEGO model.

It is hoped a whole module of the Exeter Cathedral build will be constructed by visitors to the West Country Brick Show! For a £1 donation, add a LEGO brick to the model to help raise essential funds that will help preserve and conserve Exeter Cathedral.

Independent LEGO traders will be selling exclusive LEGO play sets, books and figures not available on the high street. Raffle tickets will be on sale for the chance to win sets and figures. Winning tickets will be drawn during the show.

A second room at Exeter Phoenix will open at 11.30am as a dedicated LEGO Build Room. Kids and adults are encouraged to build their own models inspired by the show’s experts and enter the LEGO brick build competition.

Construct a famous West Country landmark to be in with the chance of winning a LEGO playset worth up to £100 (although space rockets and LEGO tower blocks won't be turned away!). The LEGO build competition will be judged at the end of the show by the specialist builders from West Country Bricks.

West Country Bricks said, ‘West Country Brick Show is for LEGO fans of all ages. For us, nothing quite beats the fun playing with LEGO and building whatever you can dream up. You are only limited by your own imagination. We recommend allowing a good couple of hours to explore the show and build a LEGO model or two’.

‘We are delighted to be hosting this event in Exeter. Special thanks go to our show sponsors, Dirty Fork Media, Gizmocom, Moor Bricks, Heaver Brothers Limited and The Brick Ladd who have helped to make this happen.'

The West Country Brick Show are looking for volunteers to help for 3 hours in return for free entry tickets. Jobs include supervising the LEGO display room, assisting with the LEGO build competition and assisting visitors. No LEGO knowledge is required, just enthusiasm and confidence chatting to the public. Volunteers must be over 18. Email West Country Bricks via the show website www.westcountrybrickshow.com
