£75,000 grant for SW Community Chaplaincy
South West Community Chaplaincy Ltd, will continue to support ex-offenders moving on from prison, thanks to a three year £75,000 Lloyds Bank Foundation grant.
The charity helps people through the crucial months prior to and after their release back into the community, and will put its grant towards the salaries of the Coordinating Community and Community Chaplains, who will mentor ex-offenders at this important point in their lives, ensuring they get the a fresh start.
The Chaplaincy focuses on reducing the chances of re-offending by offering people a network of relationships and community connections, across Cornwall, Devon and West Somerset, removing the barriers and feelings of isolation that many people experience having left prison.
The Chaplaincy works with people to help them gain confidence and self-belief, and guides them towards meaningful employment. By working on their resilience and mental focus, ex-offenders are often able to remain crime-free and aspire to more fulfilled lives and more positive futures.
