Chris Linton, Partner at Wollen Michelmore Solicitors, is hoping that Friday 13th May is lucky for him and more importantly for raising money for Children’s Hospice South West.

As one of eight local business people, Chris is participating in an event called Jail and Bail where all accused parties will be put on trial at Exeter Castle before being banished to their cells and the only way he can be released is if he raises the bail of £999, all for the benefit of Children’s Hospice South West.

Chris Linton said “When I was contacted by Children’s Hospice and asked to take part in this event I jumped at the chance. Spending a few hours in jail is a small price to pay to make a big difference to several lives less fortunate than our own. Hopefully my small sacrifice will go a long way to help the great work that Children’s Hospice does to ensure that these young people’s lives are made just that little bit better.”

Chris is ‘accused’ of breaching several historic Acts of Parliament and pleads not guilty to:

  • Keeping a pigsty in front of his house in full view of the street (an offence under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847)
  • Shaking a rug in the street after 8.00am (an offence under s60 Metropolitan Police Act 1839)
  • Walking down the street carrying a plank of wood whilst flying a kite (an offence under s54 Metropolitan Police Act 1839)
  • And finally he had the audacity to - attend the House of Parliament wearing a suit of armour (a crime under a Statute Forbidding the Bearing of Weapons 1313) whilst being intoxicated and in charge of a cow (an offence under the Licensing Act 1872)

To make sure Chris is released on the same day he needs your financial support, so please visit: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/bailoutChrisLinton and make a difference to the many young lives that are touched by Children’s Hospice South West. Their work is felt throughout the South West and beyond.
