Honiton’s Chamber of Commerce and the East Devon branch of the Federation of Small Businesses have joined forces to put on a free business advice and networking event at the Beehive in Honiton, and they are looking for exhibitors to take part.

The ‘Honiton Together’ event on September 24 will see representatives from local banks, accountants, law firms, printers and other organisations coming together under one roof to give advice on a variety of issues from setting up a business to corporation tax, business banking and support services.

Event organiser and Chairman of Honiton Chamber, Colin Wright explained: “There are well over 2,000 businesses in the Honiton area, the most of any of the bigger East Devon towns. We felt they needed a new type of forum to find out what help is available to them locally.

“People who run SMEs often have business-related issues, but don’t know where to turn for advice. With this event, lots of useful contacts will all be available in one place, making finding the right support much easier.”

In addition to exhibitors, a series of headline speakers have been lined up to give in-depth talks on grants, business growth, PR and social media for business.

Co-organiser, FSB Chairman Greg Page-Turner said: “Although this is primarily an event for business support, it also presents an excellent opportunity to network with other businesses.

“We hope that by finding out what others in our area are achieving, local businesses will be inspired on to even greater success. They could even find themselves new suppliers - many a business deal has been struck over a coffee at this type of event.”

The free event will run from 3pm to 8pm with refreshments generously supplied by the Deer Park Hotel, also one of the headline speakers.

Organisations that have already agreed to exhibit at the event include Beviss & Beckingsale, Business Information Point, Cosmic and East Devon District Council, and there is opportunity for more exhibitors to take part.
