Events company Event Exeter has exciting plans to end the year after winning big at the 2016 Devon Tourism awards.

The company, which represents event venues at The University of Exeter, is now ready to host its Christmas parties for local businesses and residents.

Kate Durward-Akhurst, the Marketing Manager for Commercial Services at the University, said: “We will be welcoming back the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra to our Great Hall for their concert season and there is even another wedding before the year is out!”

Event Exeter won the Gold award for the Venue and Business Tourism Award, with the National Marine Aquarium winning Silver and Sandy Park winning Bronze.

“We were incredibly honoured to receive the Gold award in this category,” Kate said. “It's wonderful to be rewarded for the hard work and efforts of a superb and dedicated team.”

The Devon and Tourism awards were held on November 10 at the University of Exeter’s Great Hall. Hosted by Event Exeter, the company was delighted to run such a prestigious event. Added pressure was given to the team, as industry experts and competitors attended the event.

“We wanted to showcase our venue facilities and services to the best of our ability, working within the clients’ budget,” Kate said.
