The Great South West Partnership has launched its new Investment Brochure at UKREiiF, the UK's largest investment and development convention with over 10,000 delegates attending. Four local firms team up to support YMCA Exeter at the Great West Run

On Sunday 15th October, running enthusiasts from around the county will be taking part in the infamous Great West Run - an exciting 13.1 mile route taking runners through the heart of Exeter city centre.

This year, four local businesses, Attention Media, Burrington Estates, Wilkinson Grant & Co and Expedite, are rallying together to become the ultimate running dream team, collectively raising money for YMCA Exeter at the Great West Run.

Barratt Homes staff complete charity skydive

Staff from Barratt Homes in Exeter have completed one of their most ambitious charity challenges – a skydive over the South Devon countryside.

Thirteen brave souls from the housebuilder’s regional division in Exeter completed the challenge to raise money for the Exeter Foundation.

Workspace provider Regus is offering free business lounge access at its centres in Devon for World Car Free Day on Friday 22nd September. The initiative is designed to help professionals avoid a car journey into work, and instead work from a professional environment within walking or cycling distance from home.

Lidl UK has announced that its new Exeter RDC, which is due to open this November, will create up to 500 full and part-time jobs for the South West.

Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) has announced more than £500,000 in funding for researchers at the University of Exeter Medical School to advance understanding of how dementia affects the brain.

New hopes for limiting warming to 1.5°C

Significant emission reductions are required if we are to achieve one of the key goals of the Paris Agreement, and limit the increase in global average temperatures to 1.5°C, a new study warns.

In a collaboration involving the University of Exeter, the University of Oxford, University College London and several other national and international partners, researchershave investigated the geophysical likelihood of limiting global warming to “well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C.”

East Devon residents are being asked to have their say on how much the council should pay towards the council tax bills of working age householders on low incomes who live in the district.

Earlier this month East Devon District Council began a six week consultation about proposed changes to the working-age Council Tax Reduction Scheme which sets out a framework on how much council tax support can be claimed by these households. The council reviews the reduction scheme every year.

Schools across Devon stand to gain £7.5 million more from the Government's proposed new funding formula, it has been revealed.

Education Secretary Justine Greening announced the revised formula last Thursday and accountants at County Hall in Exeter have been number crunching the figures.
