Extension to consultation on PSPO

There's still time for people to have their say on whether Exeter introduces a new tool called a public spaces protection order (PSPO) to tackle anti-social behaviour such as street-drinking and the taking of legal highs in Exeter city centre.

Exeter City Council has decided to extend its consultation to give people more time to have their say on the PSPO and what it should include, if introduced.

The consultation period was due to close on 22 January but has now been extended until 29 February.

A Magistrate from East Devon, an Exeter based Artistic Director, an expert Business Growth Coach and a former BBC World Service Journalist are among those who have been appointed to help run Devon’s libraries.

Libraries Unlimited, the new independent public service mutual set up by the County Council and tasked with delivering Devon’s library service from April, has recruited four independent trustees to join its board. Snow and ice warning for Devon

A weather warning of snow and ice has been issued for Devon.

Showers will become frequent this evening (Thursday) and will be heavy at times, increasingly turning to snow on high ground and inland.

A longer spell of spell of sleet and snow will move southeastwards across Wales and into parts of the West Country overnight.

Snow accumulations of 1-3cm are possible above 200 metres, with some small slushy accumulations to low levels very locally.

People are being urged to be aware of challenging conditions when travelling this morning as Devon County Council gritters and ploughs work continuously across the county.

Heavy snow has been reported on high ground in the west and north west of the county around Dartmoor.

Some of the heaviest snow is being reported on the A388 Milton Damerel to Frithelstock Stone, as well as the B3357 and B3212 routes up towards Princetown and the A386 Mary Tavy to Sourton Cross, but they are all passable with care. Many parts of Devon woke up to a dusting of the white stuff this morning.

Gritters were out last night and snow ploughs dispatched to Dartmoor this morning.

Motorists whose journeys take them across higher ground are being warned to delay their journeys, if possible.

Forecasters have warned that temperatures could plunge as low as -4C tonight.
