ExIST takes a closer look at the Internet of Things

The Exeter Initiative for Science and Technology (ExIST) will be hosting its first event of 2016 at Sandy Park Conference Centre on the 4th February and will be focusing on the topic of Internet of Things (IoT) in partnership with the Exeter City Futures Initiative.

The event boasts a stellar line up of speakers including Elizabeth O’Driscoll, Head of Innovation from Exeter City Futures, Dr Ignat Drozdov, director at Bering Limited, Laurence Oakes Ash from Andromeda Capital and Ralph Hudson, Power System Architecture Lead at Energy Systems Catapult.

Elizabeth O’Driscoll of Exeter City Futures will be looking at Internet of Things (IoT) and Urban Innovation. Elizabeth has 13 years’ experience developing complex systems, defining technology strategy and leading transformational change. Liz is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institute of Electrical Engineering.

Dr Ignat Drozdov, Managing Director at Bering Limited will cover the topic of Big Data and Health.  Dr. Drozdov works in the field of Machine Learning and Precision Medicine. His models have predicted prospective risk of type 2 diabetes and myocardial infarction as well as patient response to radiotherapy.

The third speaker of the morning will be Laurence Oakes Ash of Andromeda Capital who will be focusing on investment trends in transportation systems. Laurence spent 12 years in investment banking in both London and New York where he was head of Autos, Industrials, Technology, Media and Telecom sectors. 

Last, but by no means least will see Ralph Hudson, Power System Architecture Lead at Energy Systems Catapult discussing Future Energy Networks. Ralph leads the system integration strategy for the Energy Systems Catapult.  His work focuses on technology implications of the drive towards clean energy for the UK in particular around the electrification of heat and transport.
