Matthew Bird of Devon Renewables Ltd in Exeter has been shortlisted for Best Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Installer (Best HVAC Installer) at the Heating Installer Awards 2026.

The SETsquared Partnership, the global no.1 business incubation and start-up growth acceleration network, comprising five research-intensive universities: Exeter, Bath, Southampton, Bristol and Surrey, will contribute £26.9 billion to the UK economy by 2030, independent research undertaken by Warwick Economics and Development (WECD) has found. Work to stub out illegal tobacco sales in Devon is being highlighted next week.

Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards Service is visiting Green Lanes Shopping Centre in Barnstaple on Thursday 30 August between 10am and 5pm to let residents know about the real harm caused by illegal tobacco and how residents can help to prevent its supply.

Later this year, four women from Devon will be taking part in the world’s toughest rowing challenge – the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

Rowing 3,000 miles unaided in a 28 foot rowing boat across the Atlantic Ocean, the team is hoping to become the fastest all women crew to complete the challenge.
