Nearly £6,000 raised for The British Heart Foundation!

The British Heart Foundation is Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) Exeter’s chosen charity for 2026.

The charity was chosen by the President of Exeter CII, Theresa Atal, who is also Compliance Director for Trusted Financial Advice (TFA).

Theresa said: “The British Heart Foundation is a charity very close to my heart - excuse the pun. My father had heart issues, and my partner has a defibrillator fitted. Every pound raised, and all donations handed in their shops around the country, help make a difference to people’s lives.”

Educated Recruitment are thrilled to announce that at their event on Friday evening they had raised a huge £1063.58p for Children’s Hospice South West through the £50 Challenge.

A LEADING care provider in south Devon is asking companies to think about employing people with early onset dementia or to keep those on who may have received a diagnosis (October 2019).

One of Devon’s leading law firms has received top ranking in the latest edition of an independent guide to the legal profession.

Stephens Scown LLP, which has offices in Exeter, Truro and St Austell, received band 1 ranking in three sections of Legal 500’s 2020 guide. Four of the firm’s lawyers have also been singled out for individual recognition, with two being included for the first time.

New washing machine filter breaks down plastic microfibres

Plastic microfibres that come off clothes in washing machines can be degraded and dissolved by a new filter developed at the University of Exeter.

The “smart filter” catches microfibres and uses a set of enzymes to break down plastic into two by-products that are safe to be released into the water system.

While these two compounds (terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol) can be toxic at high concentrations, the volume of water released during a wash is enough to dilute them to a safe level.
